Hello all! I'm back from the fabulous American Association of School Librarians conference in Hartford Connecticut. I feel so fortunate to have gone, not only for the experience of seeing some of the East Coast but for all I learned and the people I met. I am excited to bring some new ideas to the... Vote for the Young Adult books.
Entertainment Weekly is hosting a bracket game to choose the best Young Adult Novel of all time. I love games like this. I just voted in round one and found it kind of exciting. Some of the books I haven't read and found myself voting based on the ones I have read. Either way it's... Continue Reading →
Readers of the week 10/23/13
These two participated in the Costume Challenged and picked the same book from the treasure box. It was a lot of fun to see them reading the book right away.
Challenge: Character Costume Design
You should know by now that I love a good library challenge. This month, in honor of Halloween I thought it would be fun to have the students design a costume of their favorite character. Reader of the Week

Some of the 4th and 5th grade Library classes were one of the first classes to test out the new Ipad mini cart. We used the Destiny App to read ebooks. The children had a lot of fun exploring the variety of books available to them.
Reader of the Week!

You see, ideas aren't bad because there is nothing wrong with thinking, reasoning and coming to a strong, good conclusion. Sometimes difficult subjects must... Continue Reading →

Maybe even you are stuck, fingers glued to the keyboard, eyes on the screen, the world passing you by. Just imagine what is out there. The types of adventures you are missing.... Continue Reading →
Well, it happens but I don’t like it.
After spending the last week setting up databases on Destiny Quest and getting very excited imagining how easy it will be for our students to search for all types of information in one convenient spot, I've come to realize this... Yep, its a big o'shippment of fail! I can't exactly explain why yet but, something... Continue Reading →
Learning Information with 1st Grade
Ask any 1st grader if they know what a blog is and you are most likely going to get blank stares. Ask them if they have ever heard of the word blog and they will most likely shout at you, "DOG WITH A BLOG" I learned this last year when introducing them to the idea... Continue Reading →
