March Madness

It’s that time of year when you hear the pitter-patter of students’ feet walking at a quick pace (NOT RUNNING!) to the LC and PLC to check out books, praying they don’t brick the shot. Falcon’s you’ll have to tell me if I got that one right! You all know I am not a sports enthusiast and have been known to wear a “I don’t like your sports ball” t-shirt. Yet, every year I find myself willingly turning the SPAS libraries into frenzied basket ball courts. All for the sake of the joy on the students faces and the prospect of getting books in their hands! If you don’t know yet, I am talking about March Madness!

This year, you have two and a half weeks to take your homeroom to basketball glory! Although I don’t think our humble March Madness of Books will overshadow this year’s amazing Varsity Basketball team, I do know that some of the players who took the Falcons to the championship and won are already making the shot in the LC. If you haven’t started playing, what are you waiting for?! It’s fun, it’s easy, and it gets you reading; really, what is there not to like? Keep reading for the rules of the game and the live updates.

The Rules

  1. You may check out up to 4 books a day with the intent of reading those books.
  2. You may only check out once a day.
  3. For each book, you get one shot.
  4. You may write reviews on Destiny for any book you checked out in March. Reviews must follow the “good review” format
    • What is the book about
    • Why you did or did not like the book
    • Who you would recommend the book to.

Penalties and Ejections

  1. Checking out books and leaving them in the library will get you ejected for the week.
  2. Playing with the basketball/hoop will get a point deducted from your homeroom
  3. Interfering with other people’s shots will get you ejected permanently.

Live Updates

The scoreboard may not reflect the most recent scores. Ms. Natalie will do her best to update the scoreboard throughout the day.
